‘Warrior’ is part of ‘Being Human’ an exhibition at Gallery@42, Eastbourne.

In this series of pieces I explore the idea of working with the subconscious, letting whatever comes out happen with as little intervention from my conscious mind as possible. Starting by drawing abstract lines and shapes in a similar process to that of automatic writing, I allow my subconscious mind recognise patterns and pareidolic imagery. When images start to materialise the process then becomes a collaboration between the conscious and subconscious mind.

This results in a series of fantastical images and motifs that intersect and interact with each other in surprising ways to create a complex sense of depth and perspective, exploring concepts ranging from mythology and folklore to Jungian archetypes and the collective unconscious.
